The Theory Behind Night Vision GooglesNight vision devices use the lower portion of the light spectrum, the infrared, and magnify the smallest amount of light to enhance what would otherwise not be visible to the naked eye. Night vision thermal devices differ in that they capture the upper portion of the infrared spectrum that we know as heat, and thus display an image that shows the heat of the target, which is also called the thermal image. Essentially, night vision technology takes advantage of the minute amount of light that we cannot normally see with the naked eye, and enhances, magnifies to give a better image. With the use of thermal imaging we can see the otherwise invisible thermal energy that is given out by most objects through the use of a night vision device.
